There will be four series of expository lectures surveying recent developments in some special areas. The speakers for the workshop part:



David Blecher ( University of Houston, USA): Operator algebras and real positivity

Nigel Higson (Penn State University, USA): C*-algebraic aspects of Harish-Chandra's theory of tempered representations

John E. McCarthy ( Washington University in St. Louis., USA): Non-commutative function theory and its applications to operator theory

Stefaan Vaes ( KU Leuven, Belgium): Type III factors, free Araki-Woods factors and their classification

The parallel session P - 2 will be held at G - 25 (ground floor of the same Academic Building). The Auditorium and G - 25 are equipped with blackboards, computers and LCD projectors.

(3) Special and Traditional Dinner: Tuesday, December 20 @ ISI Canteen during 8-9.30 P.M.
