SSIU faculty members have been fully involved in teaching subjects such as Elements of Mathematics, Information Storage Retrieval and DBMS, Data and Text Mining, Geographcal Information Systems for MSLIS programme of DRTC. An elective on Mathematical Morphology and Applications is also being offered for BMath programme. An elective Functional brain signal processing: EEG & fMRI is being offered for M Tech(CS) programme. Besides this teaching load, SSIU faculty members are often lecturing at various other institutes and universities of repute.

SSIU also looks for students with strong quantitative background and zeal to demonstrate their potential. Those who want to pursue a PhD, at Indian Statistical Institute-Bangalore Centre, in the areas of faculty’ expertises are particularly encouraged to apply. CSIR/GATE/ISI Computer Science JRF test qualified candidates will be given preference. Faculty members of SSIU have also been recognised and registered supervisors eligible to supervise PhD scholars of institutes and universities such as NIMHANS, Andhra University, Bharathiar University, Satyabhama University, Fakhirmohan University, Sambalpur University.
