Objectives and Structure of
Mathematical Olympiads:
The principal objectives are to identify and nurture students with special talent in Mathematics.
The KRMO (Karnataka Regional Mathematical Olympiad) is a 3-hour test in which the participants are expected to solve 6 to 7 problems. The test is to be held simultaneously in several centers in the state on December 05, 2010 (1.00PM to 4.00PM).
About 30 of the top performers in KRMO are selected for participation in the INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad) which is a 4-hour test held in different regions of India on February 06, 2011.
About 30 of the top performers in INMO are awarded a certificate of merit. Further, they are eligible to attend a training and selection camp (IMOTC) in May.
Six best students will be sent to IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) to represent India. 52nd IMO will be held in Netherlands during July 16-24, 2011.
This is the only Mathematics Olympiad recognised by the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM). Top performing Mathematics Olympiad students get direct admission to courses of several premier educational institutes of India. They are also eligible for a scholarship of Rs.4000 per month from NBHM.
