Anita Naolekar and Aniruddha Naolekar

It is with profound sorrow that we record the untimely passing of our dear colleagues and friends, Anita Naolekar and Aniruddha Naolekar, in a tragic traffic accident on 20 August 2026. Both were valued members of the Indian Statistical Institute, Bengaluru, and devoted mathematicians and teachers who enriched our department through their scholarship, commitment to students, and collegiality. Beyond their professional contributions, Anita and Aniruddha will be remembered for their warmth, kindness, generosity, and the friendships they shared with so many of us. Their sudden loss has left a deep and lasting void in our department and in the lives of all who knew them. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their family and loved ones, and will remember Anita and Aniruddha with great affection, gratitude, and respect.
