Objectives and Structure of
Mathematics Olympiads:
The principal objectives are to identify and nurture students with special talent in Mathematics.
The KRMO (Karnataka Regional Mathematical Olympiad) is a 3-hour test in which the participants are expected to solve 6 to 7 problems. The test is to be held simultaneously in several centers in the state on November 29, 2009 (1.00PM to 4.00PM).
About 30 of the top performers in KRMO are selected for participation in the INMO (Indian National Mathematical Olympiad) which is a 4-hour test held in different regions of India on January 17, 2010.
About 30 of the top performers in INMO are awarded a certificate of merit. Further, they are eligible to attend a training and selection camp (IMOTC) in May.
Six best students will be sent to IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) to represent India. 51st IMO will be held in Kazakhstan during July 6-12, 2010.
This is the only Mathematics Olympiad recognised by the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM). Top performing Mathematics Olympiad students get direct admission to courses of several premier educational institutes of India. They are also eligible for a scholarship of Rs.4000 per month from NBHM.

KARNATAKA REGIONAL MATHEMATICAL OLYMPIAD 2009
Date and Time of KRMO 2009 : November 29 (Sunday) 2009 from 1.00 PM to 4.00 PM.
Eligibility to participate in KRMO 2009 : Students of I/II P.U.C. or of class XI/XII with Mathematics as one of the subjects of study are eligible to participate. However, talented students of class VIII, IX and X can also appear.
Medium: The question paper will be both in Kannada and English.
How to register for KRMO 2009 : An interested candidate should normally register through the Head of her/his institution. Each candidate is charged a registration fee of Rs.75/- (Rupees seventy five only). The candidate may select one of the centres mentioned in the list here. The Head of the institution is expected to send us the list of candidate mentioning their names, class, their choice of centres along with registration fees as a single crossed Demand Draft favouring "Indian Statistical Institute" payable at Bangalore. On the backside of the DD please write the name of your institution.
If the school/college is not willing to do the registration, a student may apply directly to us by sending DD and all details, including postal address, phone number, name of School, class etc.
