Algebraic Geometry and Number Theory conference

Dates: 14th December to 20th December 2017

Venue: Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore Center

Venue: The lectures will be in the auditorium on the 2nd(top) floor of the main building. Adjacent to the lecture hall there are classrooms and several blackboard which can be used for discussions. There is also a ‘common room’ which can be used. The reception and the special talk will be in Platinum Jublie Auditorium (PJA).

Internet: Wi-Fi is available and should be accessible throughout the campus. The password will be given to you on the first day. For the hotel and guest houses please contact the reception for the procedure. The hotel Wi-Fi is free.

Logistics: You have been accommodated at one of three venues.
• Hotel Southern Star: From the hotel a taxi has been arranged to pick you up at 8.45. On any given day there are 5 people.
• ISEC Guesthouses: From ISEC the ISI bus will pick you up at 8.30 AM. Breakfast will be at ISI itself. Coffee and tea is available in your room and there are a few places in the vicinity where you can have breakfast if you prefer to have it early. It is also possible to walk from ISEC/NLSIU to ISI through Bangalore University (a reasonably pleasant 4km walk).

Trek - Sunday 17th December: The trek will be to Devarayanadurga, a small hill about 60km from Bangalore. We will leave around 7am from ISI to reach there by around 9. From there, there will be a trek up the hill to a temple and back which takes around 2-2.5 hours. It is not very strenuous.
We will have a local guide who will help us with the route etc and tell us about the history of the various structures we encounter. The option of remaining at the starting point exists as it is a friend's farmhouse and we will return to that point for lunch and to depart.
Since there is a guide and meals involved, there will be a small charge for those who want to come. The precise amount depends on the number of people involved but should not be more than Rs. 500.

Banquet - Monday 18th December: We will have a banquet on Monday, 18th December at Yauatcha at 1 M.G. Road and would like to invite you and your family for it. The food is contemporary Cantonese dim sum. Food will be covered by us, but alcohol will be at your own cost - however, they have provided us with a special beverage menu with a more reasonable price on the alcohol.
