Text: Introductory Mathematics Analysis for Business, Economics, and the Life and Social Sciences (9th Edition) by Ernest F. Haeussler, Jr. and Richard S. Paul, plus supplementary material from Calculus (5th Edition) by C. Henry Edwards and David E. Penny

Syllabus: Sections 4.1 to 4.3, 5.1 to 5.4, 8.1 to 8.2, 11.1 to 11.4, 12.1 to 12.6, 13.1 o 13.3, 14.1 to 14.5, and 15.1 to 15.4 of the text book, plus the supplementary material on trigonometric functions and Taylor polynomials and series.

Quizzes: There will be a 15 minute quiz every Wednesday. The topics will be announced every Monday.

Exams: There shall be Four Exams in the quarter.
Triterm 1: September, 29th
Triterm 2: October, 27th
Triterm 3: November, 17th
Common Final Exam: December **

Grading: Triterm 1 is worth 30 % of the term-grade. Triterm 2 is worth 30 % of the term-grade. Triterm 3 is worth 30% of the term-grade. The quizzes consists of 10% of the term-grade. Your course grade will be computed in the following manner:

The average term-grade for the class will be calculated = AT
The average final exam grade for the class will be calculated =AF
Let D = AF-AT
Your compensated term grade (CT) = Your term-grade + D
Your Course grade = 1/2(CT + your final exam grade)

Studying and Homework: The course requires at least two hours of study for each hour of class time. It is imperative that you try,(and write up solutions for), the homework problems before their respective due dates.The problems given are a small selection so please do try other problems for practice from the text. You are encouraged to work together on solving the problems. Please write up solutions by yourself and bring them to class on the due date. We shall try to discuss the homework for a few minutes in class. Homework will not be collected.

Feedback: Please feel free to drop by my office during office hours, to clear up difficulties or to just discuss mathematics. I would really appreciate feedback from you as the course progresses.
