School on K-theory and its Applications
A
two week school on K-theory and its applications will be organized at
the Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore from December 26, 2016 to January
7, 2017. The first week of the school will cover basics of :
(i) Vector bundles, (ii) Characteristic classes and
(iii) K-theory. The second week will have four mini-courses broadly on
the theme of applications of K-theory. The School is aimed at PhD
students and researchers. Master's students with a good background in topology
will also be considered.
Prerequisites : A first course on
algebraic and differential topology.

: The last date for applying is over.
Travel Support and Local Hospitality : The
participants are encouraged to get travel support from their parent
Institute. Limited funding is available towards travel support of
participants. Local hospitality will be arranged for all outstation
participants from the evening of December 25, 2016 to afternoon of January 8,
2017. Arrangements for Lunch and snacks will be made for all participants
during the days of the lectures.

Lecture Schedule : First Week : Second Week (All
lectures will be held in the Auditorium. Participants are requested to register
between 0900-0930 on 26 Dec. in Stat-Math office (The
Auditorium and the Stat-Math office are on the second floor of the Main
Building)).
Accommodation Details
: The accommodation for numbers 1-16 is in the Guest house; 17-21 is in the
Research Scholar's Hostel; 22-25 are Hostel executive rooms; 26-37 are D
Quarters. Please meet the Security person at the Main Gate. He will guide you
to your room. In case of any difficulty in reaching the Institute/ finding the
