Second Announcement

May 1, 2012.

Dear Colleague,

Greetings! This is the second announcement of a workshop cum conference `Recent advances in Operator Theory and Operator Algebras, to be held at Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore during Dec. 31, 2012-January 11, 2013. This is being sponsored by National Center for Mathematics, India and the Indian Statistical Institute. The plan is to have a one week workshop followed by a week of conference, broadly in the area of operator theory and operator algebras with a special emphasis on quantum theory.

In the first week, that is during Dec. 31, 2012-Jan. 5, 2013, we have a workshop. This is aimed at students as well as researchers in the area who are keen to learn these fields. The main speakers for the workshop are:

A) Uwe Franz, University of Franche-Comte, Besancon, France: Independence and Levy processes in quantum probability.

B) Adam Skalski, Institute of Mathematics, Polish Academy of Sciences , Warszawa , Poland: Quantum Processes.

C) Brett D. Wick, School of Mathematics, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA: Operator Theory and Function Algebras: The Corona Problem.

Details of the courses can be found in conference website.

In the second week (January 7-11, 2013), it will be a conference on the general theme of Operator Theory and Operator Algebras. Some participants may attend only of the weeks. The names of invited speakers will be on the conference website as soon as they confirm to us that they are likely to come. Here is a list of people who have already expressed interest.

There will be no registration fee. We hope to provide local hospitality with guest house/hostel accommodation to all the participants. Domestic travel support can be provided to a limited number of participants.
