The Central Computer Centre was
inaugurated by Prof. S.B. Rao, Director, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, on 2nd
February, 1996 (Friday).
Besides the individual computer labs attached to each department, there is a Central
Computer Centre, which is open for faculty members and students of the Institute on all
weekdays during regular office hours. Facilities here include Internet, E-mail and a
bundle of statistical, mathematical and general purpose software. All machines are
connected to a Windows NT server, a LINUX server, and SUN Ultra Solaris workstation.
The entire campus buildings, including staff quarters, have been covered with the LAN
(Wired). The New Guest House, New Auditorium and Hostels have been connected with the
